DECS- Diet, Exercise, Calorie, Sleep

Having a healthy body is a great asset and believe me it is not by chance. All of us need to ensure that we take care of ourselves. If we are healthy, we feel better about ourselves and able to contribute much better in our day to day activities.
The purpose of me writing this article is to share my knowledge gained  through the course of running and learnings from my passionate running partners ,Doctors and books.
Around 4 years back, My weight was around 76 kg, used to have severe back ache and was hardly able to run 300 metre. Sometimes I used to think that my backache will never go in my life. Today my weight is around 70 kg, back ache has completely disappeared, completed 1 Full Marathon, 1 Half marathon and 13 10 Km marathons.

Here in this post I will tell my quick take on  how to achieve a healthy lifestyle , I call it DECS. Of course there is no silver bullet to this .
Please leave your comments with your suggestions and inputs.
D :Diet -

. We need to have 100% balanced diet.
. Have 5 portions of small meals at 8 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, 8 pm. You may change this according to your time. Don't overeat. Remember it is small portions.
. Drink 3 to 4 litres of water everyday.
. Reduce the oil intake as much as possible.
.  Ensure that we have early dinner. Even if we have late dinner, keep 2 hours gap between food and going to bed.
E : Exercise -
. Do some kind of physical exercise . Join in some kind of sports. I enjoy running. So I would recommend walking or running.
. After having food,  take a brisk walk or do some sort of physical activity. Not high intensity. This would help in avoidance of food  getting converted to fat. Rather the food is getting converted as energy.
C : Calorie -
. Focus on increasing the muscle mass.
. Reduce the Calorie intake. If we are engaged in some kind of sports activity or body building it's ok to consume more Calorie  but it's important to balance.
. Reduce the abdominal mass.
S: Sleep -
. Have 7-8 hours of sleep on a regular basis. Practically speaking this is quite challenging. But this is a very important aspect. We must try to strike the balance. If some days we have slept late, we must have the sleep debt backlog. We should clear it immediately.
Above are few thoughts based on my experience..
